2008 Video Vacation
April 18th - April 20th, Screening on April 23rd

The 2008 Video Vacation is a 48 hour video race presented by Texas Filmmakers and the UNT Student Chapter. Teams of 4-6 will be unleashed on the city at the stroke of midnight. They will have 48 hours to write, shoot, and edit a short video containing four secret elements. The videos are then judged, compiled, and screened the following Wednesday for all your frinds and family!
Everyone is welcome to participate. Experience and equipment is not necessary! It is a great way to meet like-minded individuals and collaborate on a creative project. Don't worry about a thing, this ia a vacation! Just register by clicking the link above and we will handle the rest.
Complete Rules:
- Everyone is eligible. It doesn’t matter if you are just a beginner. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have equipment. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have a full team. Just sign up. We’ll handle the rest.
- Registration is $10 and is non-refundable.
- The first step is to register; whether you have a team or not, you must first register. After registration, you will be contacted by a Video Vacation Team Member. You will be given an opportunity to specify your teammates (if any) as well as what equipment you have access to.
- All players will be placed into teams ranging from 4 to 6 people. Each team will have access to a camera and an editing station. If you do not have a team, you will be placed with one. Individuals without teams are encouraged to register.
- Each team will be given one Sony miniDV tape.
- The race will begin at Jupiter House (info below) Friday night at midnight. Just prior to kick-off, each team will be given an “element sheet” which will have a theme, a location, a prop, and a line of dialogue. Each element must be used at some point in your video.
- Videos must be between four and eight minutes.
- Each team must submit their completed video by Sunday night at midnight at Jupiter House. Videos will only be accepted on miniDV tape.
- Each video must only contain material shot during the race. All use of previously shot video is strictly prohibited and will warrant immediate disqualification from the race.
- Each video submitted by Sunday at midnight will be eligible for the first place cash prize. The cash prizes are handled tournament-style and will vary in size depending on the total number of Video Vacation registrants. The videos will be judged by an independent, local panel and the winners will be announced at the screening Wednesday night.
- All completed videos will be screened on Wednesday evening, April 23rd. The location will be announced soon.
- Jupiter House is the location of the start and finish of the race. They are open 24 hours a day and will provide free regular coffee for all video racers during the race.
