The 2010 48 Hours of Hell is a 48 hour video race presented by Texas Filmmakers and held in Denton, TX. Teams of 1 or more people will be unleashed on the city at 10PM on October 22nd. They will have 48 hours to write, shoot, and edit a short video utilizing four secret elements. All teams will have to use the same four elements. This year's elements will be announced at the race kick-off. HINT: the elements will be horror related. The videos are then judged, compiled, and screened on October 27th for all your friends and family!

Complete Rules:

1. Everyone is eligible.
2. Registration is $75 (non-refundable) per team. To begin, click Buy Now.
3. You can have as many people on your team as you want.

6. Each team MUST have access to a camera and a computer.

8. The race will begin at Big Mike's Coffee House (info below) Friday night, Oct 22, at 10PM. Just prior to kick-off, each team will be given an “element sheet” which will have a theme, a location, a prop, and a line of dialogue. Each element must be used at some point in your video.
9. Videos must be between four and eight minutes. The length of the video will be considered the time from the first image/sound until the last image/sound (including credits).
10. Videos must be turned in by 10PM at Texas Filmmakers located at 405 S. Elm St., Suite 102, Denton, TX 76201.
11. Videos will be accepted either on miniDV tape or as a digital file on a data DVD. Only export Standard Definition footage to the tape. The digital file MUST be either .avi or .mov. For .avi use Microsoft DV compressor; the resolution should be 720x480. For .mov use Apple DV; the resolution should be 720x480. The file size should be between 800MB and 1.7GB if done correctly. Texas Filmmakers is not responsible for digital files that do not playback on our equipment.
12. The video MUST be in Standard Definition. We will accept 4:3 or 16:9, but it must be 720x480 (16:9 can be anamorphic or letterbox - we prefer anamorphic.
13. All audio should be normalized to -6dB. Please record good audio levels!
14. Each video must only contain material shot during the race. All use of previously shot video is strictly prohibited and will warrant immediate disqualification from the race.
15. Each video submitted by Sunday at 10PM will be eligible for the first place cash prize. The cash prizes are handled tournament-style and will vary in size depending on the total number of registrants. The videos will be judged by an independent, local panel and the winners will be announced at the screening Wednesday night. An audience award is almost always given as well so bring as many friends as you can to the screening!
16. The winning team(s) will receive a single check made out to the Team Captain only.
17. All completed videos will be screened on Wednesday evening, October 27th, at Golden Triangle Mall Theater at 8:00PM. Admission is FREE.
18. Big Mike's Coffee House is the location of the start of the race. Their address is: 1306 W Hickory St., Denton, TX, 76201. Please arrive by 9:30pm to check-in your team. We will be registering teams on-site with cash/check/visa/mc.
