Lisa King has completed her debut album The Language of Birds. She calls her group The Hot Place. “A patrolman apprehended the boxer Jack Johnson for speeding through his little town. He fined him $100 on the spot. Jack said, “Here's a $100 for now and another $100 for later, because when I come back through, I'll be driving just as fast.” The cop said, “Boy, if you keep acting like that, you're gonna' go straight to the Hot Place.” I thought, now that is rock and roll, and that's what I'm going to name my band.” – Lisa King Lisa wrote all of the songs on The Language of Birds. Although inseparable from her Mosrite bass guitar, she also played a roster of instruments, some raised from a steamer trunk of vintage guitars and analog synthesizers; others sprang from her wild antique menagerie like the 1920s Marxophone and the calliope-sounding Portatiev.Lisa may have begun The Language of Birds by herself, but she hopes it feels more like a band called The Hot Place. She co-produced the album with The Swimming Pool Q's' Jeff Calder, who also played guitar and contributed his multi-instrumental diversity within the album. The Q's Robert Schmid played drums. Southern Tracks' Steven Morrison mixed most of the songs and performed on piano, 12-string and vibes. Mike Lynn, formerly of Betty's Not A Vitamin, was a contributing guitarist, as well. Lisa King has a degree in Fine Arts from Georgia State University, specializing in cutting-edge printmaking disciplines like non-toxic etching and lithography. She's been a member of the Atlanta bands Unminded and Threshold, and she's played keyboards with The Swimming Pool Q's and Glenn Phillips of the Hampton Grease Band.

2013# 103 Scott Frish - May 12,2013
Frish received a BFA from the University of Arizona and a MFA from the University of Washington. While in Seattle Scott began an association with Stone Press editions, that lasted over ten years, where he acted as digital technician and associate printer. After working at Seattle University for three years Frish left the Northwest to take a tenured position at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, located just a little south of Amarillo, Texas. He has taught printmaking, computer art and foundations for the last ten years. In 2010 Frish and his colleagues transplanted Vermillion Edition Limited, a famed print shop formally located in Minneapolis, MN. Now in it's new home in Amarillo, Scott has spent the last three years publishing and printing for artists such as Jeff Dell, Bill Fick, John Hitchcock, Michael Krueger, John Lysak, Catherine Prose and Jenny Schmid. Frish states that although he is primarily interested in the conversion of digital imagery to analog printmaking, his involvement in the Vermillion project has broadened his focus to include that of offset lithography. As an artist Frish stays active, exhibiting both regionally and nationally. He is especially looking forward to his upcoming show in September, at Studio dell Arte Grafica Il Bisonte, in Florence, Italy.

Scott Erickson, a musician based out of Danville, Pennsylvania, has been performing professionally since the age of 21. Since then, Scott has built up a reputation as one Northeast/Central Pennsylvania's premiere Performers. As a solo artist, he has opened for The Bacon Brothers (actor Kevin Bacon and his brother Michael), classic rock icons, Blue Oyster Cult, and comedians "Big" Jay Oakerson, Tom Rhodes, and the legendary Gilbert Gottfried. He has also performed with former Paul McCartney sideman Robbie McIntosh, and Hamish Stuart (who has also worked Ringo Starr), Country Music superstar Keith Urban, and most recently jammed with legendary rock & roll band, The Smithereens.During this time, he's also been a member of several bands: The Rumble Cats, and Circle Sky (which played in Philadelphia, New York, and Chicago, from the summer of 1994 until the winter of 1996). In the fall of 1998, the band reunited under the name The Impossibles and opened for Gary Lewis & The Playboys and Freddy “Boom Boom” Cannon. He was one of the founding members (as bassist and occasional lead vocalist) of one of the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania's favorite bands, The Aardvarks from their earliest incarnations in late 2002, until January of 2004. He was featured vocally, as well as on lead, rhythm, acoustic, electric & bass guitars in perennial Lehigh Valley favorites, Redz Vision, as well as a member of The Infamous Hogleg Boys.After the better part of 20 years of performing, it shows that Scott still loves what he does. Now, he's ready to take his show on the road and play for as many new audiences, in as many new areas around the country as possible. He freely & proudly admits, ''Without my audience, I am nothing at all. I sincerely thank them, and I am eternally in their debt.''.

Susan Goldman, is Artistic Director/Owner of Lily Press in Rockville, Maryland. Goldman received a National Endowment for the Arts Grant 2011-12, to complete as producer and director “Midwest Matrix, an hour-long documentary videotape/DVD on the fine art printmaking tradition of the American Midwest. Midwest Matrix premiered at The University of Iowa, Iowa City in December 2012, and in March 2013, was shown at SGCI Print Milwaukee. Next stop for the documentary is the Inland Symposium, April 4-5, 2013, at Bradley University in Peoria, IL. Midwest Matrix will be screened in November 2013, in New York City, during Print Week at the Armory and other venues throughout the city, and is sponsored by the International Fine Print Dealers Association Foundation. Goldman just completed a commission for the Abu Dhabi Nations Towers St. Regis, United Arab Emirates. Her prints were also recently exhibited at Art Basel Miami and at The Old Print Shop in New York City. Lily Press print projects include artists: Rudy Pozzatti, Eve Stockton, Marti Patchell, Sheila Crider; Preston Sampson, Ellen Hill, EJ Montgomery, Gina Lewis, Mindy Weisel, Renee Stout, Linn Meyers, Miriam Morsel Nathan, Brece Honeycutt, Elizabeth Catlett, Michael Gross and Jo Baer. She is founder and co-curator since 1993 of the interdisciplinary community arts project, The Art of Work, The Work of Art ©. Goldman is a 2009 recipient of the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County Creative Projects Grant. 2013# 98 Color of Blind - Mar 24,2013
This is a new concept exhibit where we will have low-sight or blind individuals within the artistic community. You will be able to touch, smell the works of artists such as Steven DaLuz, Susan Budge, Kathy Sosa, Andy Benavides, Robert Tatum, William Vance, Oscar Saenz and 40+ other artists from the San Antonio-Austin areas. Curators are Trina Bacon and Katherine Brown will join us to discuss the exhibition and what sparked the idea. Opening is Saturday March 30, 723 S. Flores, San Antonio, Texas from 6-10 PM.

Mark Ellis, AKA James Axler. is the author of 50 suspense and science-fiction novels (with more in the offing) as well as being a comics creator. Under his pen name of James Axler, he created the best-selling OUTLANDERS series, published by Harlequin Enterprises's Gold Eagle imprint. The series is now in its sixteenth year of consecutive publication, making it the most successful ongoing mass-market paperback series published in the last 25 years. Mark makes his living as a creator. He was formerly a comics scripter for various independent publishers and the main writer, conceptulizer and editor of the late (and somewhat unlamented) Millennium Publications. The company was formed in 1990 by Mark, his wife Melissa Martin and a third partner who earned the right to remain nameless. His credentials in the comic book field include critically acclaimed stints on Doc Savage, Death Hawk, The Wild, Wild West, Star Rangers, The Justice Machine and many others. He's worked with comic legends such as the late and legendary Jim Mooney, Don Heck, Darryl Banks, Adam Hughes and Doug Wildey. He also gave the great (and tragically late) Mike Wieringo his first comics assignment (Doc Savage: Doom Dynasty) in his capacity of editor of Millennium. Melissa and Mark co-wrote The Everything Guide To Writing Graphic Novels, on sale in March of 2008. “If I say so myself (and I do, I do!), its a comprehensive volume all about the production of graphic novels/comics, not just the writing.
