The 2008 48 Hours of Hell is a 48 hour video race presented by Texas Filmmakers in association with Art Six Coffee House and held in Denton, TX. Teams of 3-6 people will be unleashed on the city at the stroke of midnight on October 17th. They will have 48 hours to write, shoot, and edit a short video utilizing four secret elements. All teams will have to use the same four elements. This year's elements will be announced at the race kick-off. HINT: the elements will be horror related. The videos are then judged, compiled, and screened on October 22nd for all your friends and family!

Everyone is welcome to participate. Experience and equipment is not necessary!

Complete Rules:

1. Everyone is eligible. It doesn’t matter if you are just a beginner. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have equipment. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have a full team. Just sign up. We’ll contact you within 24 hours for further information.
2. Registration is $15 and is non-refundable. If you cannot register online. Contact Texas Filmmakers at 940-435-0333 to setup other arrangements.
3. The first step is to register; whether you have a team or not, you must first register. After registration, you will be contacted by a Staff member. You will be given an opportunity to specify your teammates (if any) as well as what equipment you have access to.
4. All players will be placed into teams. Each team can have between 3 and 6 people. Each team will have access to a camera and an editing station. If you do not have a team, you will be placed with one.
5. Each team will be given one Sony miniDV tape.
6. The race will begin at Art Six Coffee House (info below) Friday night at midnight. Just prior to kick-off, each team will be given an “element sheet” which will have a theme, a location, a prop, and a line of dialogue. Each element must be used at some point in your video.
7. Videos must be between four and eight minutes.
8. Each team must submit their completed video by Sunday night at midnight at Art Six Coffee House. Videos will ONLY be accepted on miniDV tape.
9. Each video must only contain material shot during the race. All use of previously shot video is strictly prohibited and will warrant immediate disqualification from the race.
10. Each video submitted by Sunday at midnight will be eligible for the first place cash prize. The cash prizes are handled tournament-style and will vary in size depending on the total number of registrants. The videos will be judged by an independent, local panel and the winners will be announced at the screening Wednesday night.
11. All completed videos will be screened on Wednesday evening, October 22nd, at Art Six Coffee House at 8:30pm. Admission is FREE.
12. Art Six Coffee Houes is the location of the start and finish of the race. They are open Friday 10a - 12a, Saturday 12p - 12a, and Sunday 2p - 10p: although videos will be accepted until midnight on Sunday.
13. Registration also includes drip coffee from Art Six Coffee House available throughout the duration of the race.
